Miele Dreams outdoor kitchens
Available from FLAM.E from January 2026
Miele enters the outdoor kitchen market with the Dreams series. From January 2026, we at FLAM.E will also have the new modules in our range. Time for an honest look at what’s in store for us.
When I, Andreas, Managing Director of FLAM.E, received a personal invitation from Miele to the exclusive presentation of the new Dreams series, I was naturally excited. Miele, the traditional German household appliance manufacturer with 126 years of experience in the premium segment, is now also venturing into the outdoor sector. After the takeover of Otto Wilde Grillers, it was clear that something big was in the pipeline. The question for me as a chef and professional kitchen planner was: How does Miele apply its expertise from the indoor kitchen outdoors?
After the presentation, I can say that Miele has taken its time, worked thoroughly and developed a well thought-out system. The Dreams series combines solid engineering work with typical Miele quality. What I particularly like is the consistency with which premium standards have also been implemented for outdoor use. Miele is not simply launching an outdoor kitchen unit with a grill, but a complete system with the aim of ensuring that everything fits and works together. This is exactly the approach you would expect from an established household appliance manufacturer.
The Dreams series from Miele is designed as a modular system in which different components can be freely combined with each other. A total of eleven different modules are available, ranging from grill and cooking modules to dishwashers, refrigerators and various storage solutions. The concept is not new on the market, but Miele has implemented it very well.
The individual modules in detail
The basic idea behind the modular design is that you can put together your own outdoor kitchen depending on the space available and your personal cooking habits. Whether you only need a barbecue with a small work surface for the balcony or are planning a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with a sink, fridge and several cooking areas, the system can theoretically be expanded as required. A total of 11 different modules can be combined as required:
- 2 grill modules: The barbecue centerpiece is available in two versions: the Fire Pro as a basic model and the Fire Pro IQ with smart functions. Both grills work with gas and offer four main burners and an additional rear burner. The temperature range is between 60 degrees Celsius for slow cooking and up to 600 degrees Celsius for searing. The low temperature of 60 degrees is particularly worth mentioning, as many gas barbecues barely reach below 100 degrees and are therefore less suitable for low-and-slow cooking methods.
- Cook module: The Cook module adds two gas burners with 4.2 and 3 kilowatts of power to the kitchen, allowing you to work in pots and pans in parallel with the grill. The pan supports are made of enameled cast iron, which ensures stability and makes cleaning easier. Anyone who has ever tried to organize a multi-course barbecue will appreciate these additional cooking zones.
- Wash module: The wash module brings running water to the outdoor kitchen. Miele has teamed up with Franke, a renowned Swiss manufacturer of kitchen taps and sinks. The module has two sinks of different sizes, a retractable tap with hot and cold water connections and an integrated waste system with two 14-liter bins for waste separation.
- Cool module: The Cool module is a refrigerator with a capacity of 110 liters specially developed for outdoor use. Miele states that it can withstand outside temperatures of minus 20 to plus 43 degrees Celsius, which should be more than sufficient for use in Austria. The interior can be flexibly divided and the temperature regulated between 2 and 14 degrees Celsius. An Active AirClean filter is designed to neutralize odours, which makes perfect sense for an outdoor refrigerator.
The storage solutions are available in three sizes: Store S with a width of 41 centimetres, Store M with a width of 61 centimetres and Store L with a width of 82 centimetres. All versions are available with either shelves or drawers. For L-shaped kitchen layouts, there is also a corner module that can extend the kitchen at a 90-degree angle and has a practical ExtraSpace pull-out for additional storage space.
What strikes me as a chef when I look at the details: the dimensions are well thought out. The sink is dimensioned so that the plancha or larger cooking and storage bowls fit in. There is also room for the chopping board in the recesses. These are details that make all the difference in everyday life. You can tell that someone who understands how to work in a kitchen has put some thought into this. By professionals for professionals, so to speak.
The heart: The Miele Fire Pro IQ
The flagship of the Dreams series is the Fire Pro IQ, a gas grill with extensive smart functions familiar from Miele’s indoor kitchen. The idea behind it is to simplify grilling and enable reproducible results, even if you are not a grilling professional. From my point of view as a chef who has been at the stove and grill for decades, I find the approach interesting.
What sets the Fire Pro IQ apart:
The Fire Pro IQ has several temperature sensors in the cooking chamber and on the grill rack, which can precisely measure and control the heat in four separate grilling zones. Recipes can be selected via the Miele app, which then automatically adjusts the temperature and guides the user through the grilling process. The display shows all the important parameters: Zone temperatures, timer and even the gas level of the cylinder. In windy or poor lighting conditions, the control knobs light up and their color indicates the burner status. A clever detail that can be very useful in practice.
The automatic temperature control works in a similar way to an oven. You set the desired temperature, the grill heats up and then maintains it automatically. This is technically impressive and a real relief for people who want to spend more time with their guests. However, manual control is still possible at any time.
Two features that particularly impress me:
- Pyrolysis self-cleaning: Activate the cleaning mode after grilling, the grill heats up properly once again and burns off grease and food residues. We know this from the oven and it also works perfectly with the grill.
- Temperature range 60-600°C: The low minimum temperature of 60 degrees is a real plus point for anyone who likes to cook or smoke at low temperatures. Many gas barbecues barely manage below 100 degrees, which is where the Fire Pro IQ stands out.
Fire Pro – The classic alternative:
For those who can do without the smart functions, the Fire Pro is available as a basic model. It offers the same size, the same power range and the same basic features, but without app control and automatic temperature regulation. For classic barbecuers who prefer to control their own temperature, this is a perfectly adequate alternative.
Sear Pro – For perfect steaks:
As an optional extra, Miele offers the Sear Pro, a top-heat grill that reaches temperatures of up to 900 degrees Celsius. This allows you to grill steaks with the characteristic crust that you know from good steakhouses. An interesting addition for meat lovers who value perfect steaks.
The prices at a glance:
- Fire Pro: 3,999 euros
- Fire Pro IQ: 5,999 euros
(all prices recommended retail price of the manufacturer)
Materials and weather resistance
An outdoor kitchen is outdoors all year round and is exposed to rain, snow, frost, UV radiation and temperature fluctuations. The choice of materials and workmanship are therefore crucial for durability. With the Dreams series, Miele relies on a sophisticated combination of stainless steel and powder-coated surfaces.
By the way: For all those who want additional protection for their outdoor kitchen or garden furniture: At FLAM.E, we manufacture customized tarpaulins and covers in Austria under the name Planenmacher. Whether for the outdoor kitchen, lounge furniture or special garden areas: We take measurements, you choose the material and color, and we deliver custom-fit weather protection. You can find out more on our website or directly from us in Wolkersdorf.
The Miele Dreams material selection in detail:
- Stainless steel: All work surfaces, the entire grill chamber and the grill lids are made of stainless steel. This is the right choice because stainless steel does not rust, is easy to clean and can withstand high temperatures.
- Powder coating: The cabinets and door fronts are coated with a special paint that is designed to be scratch and UV-resistant.
The Otto Wilde experience:
This is where it gets interesting, because it was precisely in the coating that Otto Wilde products had their weak points in the past. After one or two years, many users reported flaking coating, rust on the cabinet doors and discoloration due to UV radiation. This was a real problem because you naturally expect an expensive outdoor kitchen to look good for more than two seasons.
Miele emphasizes that the Dreams series has been completely redeveloped and that lessons have been learned from this experience. The coating has been revised and tested for durability and weather resistance.
Other important components:
- Franke taps: designed to be frost-proof. They can be left outside in winter, but the water must be drained and the pipes emptied to prevent frost damage.
- Outdoor refrigerator: Designed for temperatures from minus 20 to plus 43 degrees Celsius – more than sufficient for our latitudes. However, you should bear in mind that a refrigerator consumes more energy at sub-zero temperatures in winter because it has to work against the cold.
Accessories and extensions
Miele offers over 60 accessories for the Dreams series, from grill grates and planchas to pizza stones, storage systems and cleaning products. The selection is solid. One advantage is the compatibility with Otto Wilde accessories. Anyone who already owns Otto Wilde accessories can also use them in the new Miele Fire Pro.
The modular covers are available to fit any configuration, which is practical. From experience, I can say that good covers significantly extend the life of an outdoor kitchen, especially with regard to coated surfaces and stainless steel care.
The story behind Miele Dreams
Many people will be asking themselves why Miele is now entering the outdoor kitchen market. The answer lies in the development of recent years:
Miele has been known for premium domestic appliances for over 125 years, but the company has not yet been active in the outdoor sector. This changed in 2021 with the majority takeover of Otto Wilde Grillers GmbH, a German company specializing in high-quality gas barbecues and outdoor kitchens. Miele then took over the company completely in 2023.
Otto Wilde had made a name for itself in the barbecue scene, but struggled with quality problems, particularly with the coatings on the outdoor kitchen modules. Many customers reported rust and peeling paint after just a few years. At the same time, a smart gas barbecue called the G32 Smart was announced, which never came onto the market.
Miele has used the time since the takeover to analyze the products, evaluate customer feedback and develop the Dreams series from scratch. The Otto Wilde brand will be discontinued on December 31, 2025. Existing customers will be taken over by Miele Service and can continue to order spare parts.

The alternative
As sophisticated as the Miele Dreams series is – modular systems have their limits. At FLAM.E, I have been working closely with the second largest family-run joinery in Austria for years. Together, we develop outdoor kitchens that are manufactured with millimeter precision for the respective space, the existing architecture and individual cooking habits.
With a tailor-made solution, we can integrate the kitchen perfectly into the existing garden architecture, compensate for height differences and choose materials that match the house and the surroundings. The quality of the carpentry work is of the highest standard – genuine craftsmanship with the aim of building furniture that will last for decades. Of course, we also integrate the best barbecues and hobs the market has to offer. The advantage: we are not tied to one manufacturer and can choose the best solution for each area.
From the initial consultation and planning to the final installation, we accompany our customers personally. This is full service in the true sense of the word.
My conclusion as a chef and outdoor kitchen expert
The Miele Dreams series is a well-designed, high-quality product. The workmanship meets the Miele standard, the choice of materials is right, and the modular concept offers good flexibility. Miele has learned from the Otto Wilde experience and developed a well thought-out system. You can tell from the many details that professionals were at work here.
At FLAM.E, we can offer both: The Miele Dreams series for customers who prefer a modular system, and customized joinery solutions for those looking for individuality. If you are interested in an outdoor kitchen, come by or give us a call. Together we’ll find out what suits you best.
